The Zhongzheng District of Taipei is home to some of the top electronics malls and stores in the world, including the famous Guanghua Digital Plaza, Syntrend Creative Park and a huge variety of shops.

Guanghua Digital Plaza
The Guanghua Digital Plaza is the most famous electronics mall in Taiwan. It covers 6 floors and is packed with electronics stores. This awesome electronics plaza sells everything, with stores ranging from video games to small gadgets, big computers and just about anything in between.
The Guanghua Digital Plaza is very popular amongst tourists. It is on the list of many travelers things to do in Taipei. However, even with many tourists flocking to the Guanghua Digital Plaza, the prices still remain reasonable.
You shouldn't expect the best bargains at the Guanghua Digital Plaza, but if you look around, you can find some good buys, especially when buying lower-priced gadgets.
The Guanghua Digital Plaza sells almost everything related to electronics, but it is important to note that the camera gear available at the Guanghua Digital Plaza is not the best that Taipei has to offer. If you are looking for camera gear, you would be better off visiting Bo’ai Road, Hankou Street, the famous Taipei Camera Street.
Best Things to Buy at Guanghua Digital Plaza
The best things to buy at the Guanghua Digital Plaza include video games, cell phones, chargers, cables, and PC components.
My personal favourite things to buy at Guanghua Digital Plaza are small gadgets such as power banks, phone cases, USB drives and earphones. These smaller electronics are also cheaper, whereas the larger, more expensive items like game consoles are similarly priced to other stores in Taipei.

Guanghua Digital Plaza has a lot of competition in its surrounding area. The Zhongzheng district is packed with small electronics stores which sell any type of electronics you could imagine. Computer stores near Guanghua Digital Plaza are much better stocked than those inside the mall.

The small computer stores on Bade Road sell every computer part you could need to build your own PC or repair an existing one. So, if you are a tech nerd like myself, I suggest checking out these smaller stores for computer components.
There are also many laptop stores on Bade Road which specialize in selling only laptops. Many of these stores offer laptops at bargain prices, and some will even negotiate prices.

The stores on Bade Road are more specific and better equipped than those inside the Guanghua Digital Plaza. If you are serious about buying electronics, I highly recommend checking out Bade Road and other smaller streets near Guanghua Digital Plaza, as they offer some of the best value-for-money electronics you will find in Taipei.
How to Get to Guanghua Digital Plaza
The Guanghua Digital Plaza can be easily reached by the Bannan line on the MRT. Only 3 stops from Taipei Main Station on the Bannan Line will take you to Zhongxiao Xinsheng Station. From there, you can walk around 10 minutes to reach the Guanghua Digital Plaza.
Places to Stay Near Guanghua Digital Plaza
The Zhongzheng district is a popular tourist location as it hosts Taipei Main Station and some of Taipei's most famous sights. If you decide to stay near the Guanghua Digital Plaza, there are some decent options in the area, and it will be easy to find hotels or guesthouses.
However, there is little regarding tourist facilities near Guanghua Digital Plaza. I prefer to stay near Taipei Main Station as it is not far from Guanghua Digital Plaza and offers much more regarding restaurants and transport links. Wherever you choose to stay in the area, I recommend booking in advance, as booking hotels at the last minute can be difficult in Taipei.
Syntrend Creative Park Shopping Mall
Sytrend Creative Park is a modern mall next to the Guanghua Digital Plaza. It is definitely one of the coolest malls in Taipei, from the exterior design to the technology stores inside the mall.

Syntrend Creative Park sells anything from laptops, desktop PCs, computer accessories, high-end camera gear, camera accessories, stationery, and cell phones. Most shops in the Syntrend Creative Park Mall sell branded items from reputable brands.
The main difference between Syntrend Creative Park and Guanghua Digital Plaza is that Syntrend Creative Park is focused on selling more high-end consumer electronics rather than having a vast range of electronics like Guanghua Digital Plaza.
Syntrend Creative Park is spread across 12, each with an individual theme, with shops selling different items on each floor. Only some of the floors are for the use of shops, though, and the retail experience finishes on the 7th floor, with the 8th floor hosting only restaurants. The themes of each floor also make the mall very exciting to browse.

The mall also doesn't have shops to buy computer components, so for those items, it's best to stick to the Guanghua Digital Plaza and smaller electronics shops like the ones on Bade Road.
Overall, Syntrend Creative Park is not the best place for shoppers on a budget, but it is one of the best malls for people looking for high-end branded electronics in Taipei.
The b2f second basement has a food court, which serves a nice variety of food in its stalls. This is a good option if you want to spend a lot of time at the mall and get hungry for a quick bite.
Don Don Donki
Don Don Donki, also known as Don Quijote, is one of Japan's most popular discount stores. Those who have travelled to Japan may already be familiar with this gigantic store.
Don Don Donki is not an electronics store. However, they still sell small electronics like power banks, phone cases, cables and general accessories. They also sell almost every other item on earth; you can find everything in Don Don Donki.
I personally find it slightly difficult to shop at Don Don Donki as there is nothing specific that they sell, but they do have a bit of everything. However, this makes it an excellent place if you're looking for cool items but are unsure about what you want.
Don Don Donki can also be a really useful shop for buying gifts or souvenirs, especially if you are still trying to decide what to buy; this is the store to find inspiration. It is known for its bargain prices and huge variety, and it is worth visiting at least to experience this unique one-stop shop.
The Guang Hua Digital Plaza, Syntrend Creative Park, Don Don Donki, and nearby shops in the Zhongzheng district are some of the best places to shop for electronics in Taiwan. The wide variety of stores, good value for money and fun layout of this incredible electronics district make it a must-visit for anyone looking to buy anything technology-related. This should also be on your list of things to do in Taipei, as the Guanghua Digital Plaza is unique.
